First Day of Class Itinerary
students will come in on their first day to all of the material's they will need for school in their desks (pencils, folders, erasers, crayons, etc.). I will give the students a few minutes to walk around the classroom see where things are, and look in their desks to see what I provided them with. I will call the students to the carpet and give a presentation on myself so the students can become acquainted with me. Then, we will play a game where the students will partner up and introduce themselves to students around the room. This way, they will also become acquainted with their classmates. When the game is over, I will have the students come back to the classroom and go over different classroom procedures. I want the students to know the classroom routines, and rules right away, so they can start becoming accustomed to them. I also want my students to feel like they are apart of the classroom management, so I will ask them what different rules we should have in the room. I will right them on a big piece of paper and hang them on the corner of the white board. We also will discuss what should happen if someone breaks a rule. This way the students came up with the rules and discipline so they will know exactly what is going to happen if they break a rule, and what rules to follow. After the rules are established, I will go over the classroom jobs that will be assigned every week, then pick the students that have the jobs that week. I also will introduce and explain the magnets and class dojo to make sure they know I also will be managing their behavior. Finally, I will go over the homework I give every week and tell them that they need to do 5 of the options on the sheet, and make sure to bring the bag back every Friday.
Before each lesson, I will explain the expectations and routines that the students will do within each subject everyday. I want the students to know right away that there will be routines, and high expectations of their behaviors. For the rest of the week, I will remind the students of their jobs and the descriptions, and routines that the students will follow, so they remember them for the rest of the year.
